First Aid is the first response to any person who is injured or ill – in pre-hospital emergency medical situations.
First Aid includes:
- Identifying the emergency
- Calling for help if needed
- Diagnosing the medical condition
- Treatment and transport of the patient/injured person to the hospital for further assessment/treatment.
Our goal in delivering first aid is actually two fold: the first is to diagnose the medical condition and the second is to provide basic medical care. It is not necessarily to improve the condition of the patient/injured person, but rather to prevent any further decline in health.
